'Entirely possible' Scotland won't share pound after independence, Alex Salmond's top economist admits

One of Alex Salmond's most senior economic advisers has admitted it is "entirely possible" a currency union would not be agreed after independence. Crawford Beveridge, chair of the First Minister's Fiscal Commission Working Group, said that political decisions could mean Scotland will be unable to share the pound after a Yes vote. He also spelled out the dangers of Mr Salmond's threat to go it alone with the pound and walk away from Scotland's share of UK public debt - a possible Plan B on the currency.
