White House rejects House GOP plan
As expected, President Obama is rejecting a new House Republican plan to raise the debt ceiling and end the government shutdown. Obama and the White House are more supportive of a plan being developed in the Democratic-run Senate. The House GOP plan would go further in scaling back Obama's new health care plan; it would would suspend a tax on medical devices for two years, and eliminate health care subsidies for the president, vice president, his Cabinet and members of Congress.
