Citigroup's chief economist was today scolded by a judge in New York for contacting his alleged stalker weeks after she was arrested for harassing him. Willem Buiter was ‘admonished' by Judge Joanne Quinones because he sent an ‘invitation to connect’ to Heleen Mees via business networking website LinkedIn. He had also contacted her on Skype just weeks before she was charged with allegedly sending him more than 3,000 sexually explicit and threatening emails and Facebook messages.
