ECB Coeure: EMU Credit Constraints Justify Low Interest Rates
Credit provision to the real economy continues to be constrained, especially in southern Europe, and is a key reason for keeping interest rates low in the Eurozone, European Central Bank Executive Board member Benoit Coeure said in an interview published Monday. In an interview together with fellow Executive Board member Joerg Asmussen, conducted with both Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung and France's Le Figaro, both cited ongoing concerns about fragmentation and credit growth in the Eurozone.
