Germany: Detailed gross domestic product results for the 1st quarter of 2013
The German economy is slow in gaining momentum. As the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) already reported in its first release of 15 May 2013, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by just 0.1 % - upon price, seasonal and calendar adjustment - in the first quarter of 2013 compared with the previous quarter, according to provisional calculations. One of the reasons for this small growth at the beginning of the year, however, was the extremely cold weather.
