Many Federal Reserve officials will be speaking next week with the highlight being Chairman Bernanke’s keynote address at the Atlanta Fed’s Financial Markets conference: ‘Maintaining Financial Stability: Holding a Tiger by the Tail’. It will be interesting if Mr Bernanke comments on the intersection of financial stability and monetary policy. Governor Stein was the first to raise the issue of using traditional monetary policy tools (if a regulatory response was ineffective) to lean against overheated markets.
