Four Reasons Not to Sweat the Low-Volume Rally
Summer may be over, but here’s one leftover from from our sweaty, sluggish summer. Trading volumes remain very, very low. Case in point: Thursday’s New York Stock Exchange volumes were the best in over a month, thanks to the European Central Bank’s efforts, but still barely managed to top the daily average this year. Anyone skeptical about this market and the 10% trickle-up we’ve seen this summer have latched onto the lackluster trading volumes as Exhibit A for why this rally can’t last.
