US Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.6 percent for the week ending May 19, unchanged from the prior week's unrevised rate. The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 341,167 in the week ending May 26, an increase of 10,736 from the previous week. There were 381,497 initial claims in the comparable week in 2011. The total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending May 12 was 6,137,862, a decrease of 30,753 from the previous week.
