EUR/USD and other USD-crosses observe price gaps to start the week
Gaps occur rarely in the 24/7 forex market, except between the global Friday close and Monday open (which is afternoon in the US). This occurs in the charts of many trading platforms because they do not update prices during the weekend. However, central banks and other institutions (not us the retail traders) do conduct operations and business over the weekend, so when the platforms update prices on the week’s open, gaps can be seen. One view on gaps is that it tends to fill (but that is not always immediate, and if timing is not a factor, then the statement is insignificant unless the market just marked a price ... (full story)
