US Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.6 percent for the week ending April 21, unchanged from the prior week. The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 330,475 in the week ending April 28, a decrease of 40,158 from the previous week. There were 415,974 initial claims in the comparable week in 2011. The total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending April 14 was 6,597,492, a decrease of 85,523 from the previous week.
