Europe stocks jump as banks rally, Spain up 1.5%

European stock markets moved higher on Friday as banks rallied and Spanish stocks got some traction after recent steep losses. The Stoxx Europe 600 index traded 0.4% higher at 257.62 at the latest, after swinging between small gains and losses throughout most of the session. Spain's IBEX 35 index climbed back above the 7,000 mark and jumped 1.5% to 7,012.60. Germany's DAX 30 index gained 0.9% to 6,728.89, while the French CAC 40 index took on 0.7% to 3,196.22. U.K.'s FTSE 100 index rose 0.3% to 5,759.47.
