Speculators' Bets Against Euro Hit New Record High -CFTC
Currency traders increased to $25.5 billion their net bets that the euro will fall, with the net short position reaching a new record high as of Jan. 17, government data showed Friday. It represents highest level of net bets that the euro will fall since at least 2007. It also marks the fourth week in a row that net short positions against the euro have reached a new record. As the euro-zone sovereign-debt crisis continues to unfold, speculators have become ever more fervent in their view that the beleaguered euro will lose value against the dollar.
