The Web to "Go Dark" January 18th to Protest Censorship Bills
The wave of online protests against two bills in Congress that aim to curtail copyright violations on the Internet is gathering momentum. Wikipedia is one of the most high-profile websites planning to shut down today to protest the bills, the Stop Online Piracy Act, often called SOPA, and the Protect IP Act, often called PIPA. The bills have attracted opposition from many corners of the technology industry.
