U.S.-based employers announced 84,638 cuts in February, up 3% from the 82,307 cuts announced one month prior. It is 9% higher than the 77,770 cuts announced in the same month in 2023, according to a report released Thursday from global outplacement and business and executive coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. February’s total is the highest for the month since 2009, when 186,350 job cuts were announced in the second month of the year.
