The Labor Department will release its productivity and costs report Friday. Typically, the productivity number generates all the buzz. But with the Fed focused on wage growth, the compensation and unit labor costs data might nudge productivity aside. Unlike the monthly average wage data in the employment report, this compensation measure includes wages and salaries, pay supplements, employer contributions to employee benefit plans, and other incentives, such as bonuses.
