Chicago Fed's Evans: Prefers Later Liftoff Than Others Want
While preferring a later liftoff of the fed funds rate than some, Chicago Federal Reserve Bank President Charles Evans said Tuesday it is the path of rate hikes that matters and he is going into the December meeting with an open mind. "I admit to some nervousness about our upcoming decision," Evans said in a speech prepared for the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce in Michigan. "Before raising rates, I would prefer to have more confidence than I do today that inflation is indeed beginning to head higher."
