Three men caught in Brooklyn with $1M worth of stolen barbecued eels
Cops set the hook and caught a trio of slippery crooks in Brooklyn on Monday in a million-dollar frozen eel heist. The men were nabbed with a truckful of boxes of the slippery delicacy nearly three months after the theft, authorities said. The high-end barbecue-style eels were shipped from China to Maher Terminal in Elizabeth, N.J., on June 1, and that’s when the thieves struck, cops said. They hired a truck driver as an unwitting accomplice, provided him with fake paperwork and had the eels picked up at the terminal, according to police said.
