Get ready to cheer the best five days of the year for stocks
The S&P 500 continued a three-day losing streak on Thursday, its longest since the second week of September. But things should be looking up for the stock market as Friday marks the beginning of the best five sessions of the year, historically. Ryan Detrick, senior market strategist at LPL Research and a walking depository of historical market data, said the next five days produce an average return of 1.7% — trumping even the “Santa Claus rally” which comes right after Christmas.
