Asian stock markets are to open higher; iron ore at new low
Asian equities are expected to open higher on Wednesday, following a rally in Wall Street overnight despite intraday pressure from weak manufacturing data. The Australian SPI futures point to a slightly higher open for the ASX 200, up by 3 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,267. The Chicago and Osaka Nikkei futures were trading mixed, up 205 points or 1.04 percent at 20,000 and down 50 points or 0.25 percent at 19,970. U.S. stocks closed nearly 1 percent higher on Tuesday despite data showing a decline in manufacturing activity in the economy.
