Tokyo stocks ease back after six-day gains
Stocks snapped their six-day winning streak on Thursday, with investor sentiment hurt by a dismal economic indicator. The Nikkei shed 181.81 points, or 0.99 percent, to close at 18,141.17. On Wednesday, it advanced 136.88 points. The Topix fell 11.77 points, or 0.79 percent, to 1,481.40, after gaining 17.33 points the previous day. Tokyo stocks got off to a sluggish start after seasonally adjusted core machinery orders data for August turned out to be much weaker than expected.
