Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to pay record $105 million fine for ignoring safety regulations
Hot on the heels of a 1.4 million vehicle recall for infotainment system hacking dangers, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has been hit with a record $105 million fine from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for failing to properly address recalls involving safety issues. The fine comes after an investigation into 23 of FCA's previous recalls affecting over 11 million vehicles in the last decade. The investigation pushed FCA to admit that they had failed to perform the recalls in a timely and effective manner, as well as provide dealers, consumers, and the NHTSA with proper information.
