First look at US economy’s third-quarter performance on tap
The economy probably grew at a healthy pace in the third quarter after an even stronger gain in the spring. But the outlook for the final three months of the year is still a bit hazy. The government is likely to report on Thursday that gross domestic product rose at a 3% annual clip from July through September, according to economists polled by MarketWatch. The U.S. expanded at a 4.6% in the second quarter. Consumer spending, the biggest contributor to GDP growth, probably grew a bit slower than a solid 2.5% rate in the second quarter.
