UK retail sales to keep steady pace at Q3 start
Market participants' central estimate suggests British retailers enjoyed steady sales growth in July after slipping slightly a month before. A continuous deflation in UK shops, as reported by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), and a sharp deceleration of Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation, should again offer consumers more confidence in keeping sales volumes rising tentatively in July. Sales volumes excluding auto fuel should pick up 0.4% between June and July, up from a decline of 0.1% a month before.
