Deutsche Bank Asks: What If Our Bearish EUR View Is Wrong?
Deutsche Bank has been arguing that EUR/USD should weaken from these levels on the back of peaking equity inflows, a turn in rate differentials and building ECB verbal intervention. But in an interesting note to clients today, DB asks what if this EUR view is wrong? The counter-arguments: DB outlines three counter-arguments to its bearish EUR reasoning. First, even though US-EU rate differentials are busily widening across the rates structure money market rates are moving the other way. Second, "verbal QE" could end up backfiring on the ECB.
