Of course, it isn't like there are hundreds of billions in trade terms relying on an accurate, credible depiction of what this currency pair's true, algo-free value is, so don't expect anyone to actually lift a finger to explain what just ... These are not close day rates. Apply a portion of your brain to check the last updated time which is mentioned in ET & on little below you can check the daily day's range.

I agree with your last check, some site shows 1.5904 as current price but that's contradictory in itself. For example, check the Fxstreet's live interbank rate, one rate says 1.5904 while other states 1.6143..:

      Bloomberg [G/U at 1.6137]
      http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/GBPUSD:CUR

Fxstreet Live Interbank [G/U at 1.6143]
      http://www.fxstreet.com/rates-charts/interbank-rates/

Fxstreet Live Currency [G/U at 1.5904]
      http://www.fxstreet.com/rates-charts/currency-rates/

Hifx Live Interbank Rate [G/U at 1.5902]
      http://www.hifx.co.uk/Marketwatch/Exchange-rates.aspx

Xe Interbank Rate [G/U at 1.6109]
      http://www.xe.com

These different quotes only creating confusion & bringing a perfect arbitrage opportunity. But i will suggest you to enjoy your Christmas party & forget this mess for the time being. Correct quote can be seen only when market opens tomorrow....
