German Fin Min Schäuble: Europeans Need To Directly Elect An EU President
In a new strong Europe where the institution are more integrated and functional, the Europeans would need to directly elect an EU President, said German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung to be published on Sunday. According to Mr. Schäuble's revolutionary governance model, Europe should move in one of two main directions: either to have a European government that is elected by the EU Parliament, as the Bundestag elects the German chancellor; or to have an EU President that is elected directly by the European people as in France and the US. Wouldn't prefer that system over the Europeans, which of course has it's weaknesses.
Several US States are completely broke, the US is broke but unlimited amounts of dollars are printed. Even Americans themselves recognize this is a unsustainable situation. So no reason to think the grass is greener on the other side.
