Retail Sales in U.S. Increased More Than Forecast in March
Retail sales in the U.S. rose more than forecast in March, showing consumers are weathering the jump in gasoline prices heading into the second quarter. The 0.8 percent gain was almost three times as large as projected and followed a 1 percent advance in February, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The median forecast of 81 economists surveyed by Bloomberg News called for a rise of 0.3 percent. Eleven of 13 categories showed increases. Americans snapped up Apple Inc. If the US retail index goes up which means sale is good and USD is stronger? then why would USD fall??

but when predictions are done its done by people who r into this for long time, like big traders and if their expectations are met (just predicting indexes) then it should go +ve with their trades, so why does it fall?
Or is it something biggy internal politics that give a lil hope and all traders will go with the flow.. and then do exactly opposite??

A good strategy at this point is probably to take any news with a pinch of salt and open a small EURUSD short position for 3 months. Once the EU has pulled everyone into depression, then re-evaluate.
