  • U.S. Jobless claims hold steady at 4-year low

    New claims for unemployment benefits were unchanged last week, holding at the lowest level since the early days of the 2007-2009 recession and giving a fresh sign the battered labor market is healing. Workers filed 351,000 initial claims for state unemployment benefits, the Labor Department said on Thursday. The prior week's figure was revised up to 351,000 from the previously reported 348,000. The last two weekly readings have been the lowest since March 2008. The four-week moving average for new claims, a measure of labor market trends, fell 7,000 to 359,000 - also the lowest since March ... (full story)

    • How to mislead the public by CNBC/ BLOOMBERG/ REUTERS
      1) Report decrease in claim without factoring in lack of participation and 40% of people on long term employment.
      2) Report increasing job creation using seasonal adjustment. How the F do you calculate seasonal adjustment? BLS will not tell us.
      3) Continue to report improving business European confidence despite know economic contraction.

    • Good for US market I would have thought bazar .... means USD will go down due to the relationship with the bond market.

    • Be patient, data news is not linier with strong of USD.
      Better watch the price movement in the chart and follow the trend.

    • Nah ... stronger market (if it rallies) = weaker USD, especially short term. The relationship is inverse due to treasuries.
