MT4 programming advice - always welcomed! Dont use that software now - its many distractions kept my trading down -this is one decent guy. Many thanks Hanover !
Hey there Hanover, I very much enjoy reading your posts. I have an admiration for your ability to express your ideas so eloquently. I also value your inputs and insights on the Market.
In my opinion one of the coolest on here. I always find his posts to be well thought out and articulated. I just read your bio David, so that explains the Monopoly avatar! LOL. Best of luck to you and your family sir.
i very much appreciate your VO-Pro.
I am using the current 2.19 beta and i am looking forward for more details on paying buy / buying a license because it is amazing and saves me a lot of time.
Kind Sir, is there any way to obtain your excellent EA VO-Pro? I would very much appreciate the opportunity to try and become proficient with its operation. Thank you for your work on this project.
Tom
David's comments, on any thread, are, always, constructive and intelligent. There's never a hint of arrogance, unlike some of those who think that they are God's gift to trading and/or MT4 coding
Yes, Craig, I'm afraid it is. Photo taken December 2009, if I recall correctly. My wife dared me to post it.
I recall your saying that the pic in your avatar is not you, but a Russian novelist? Can't remember his name, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky are the only two that come to mind.
I agree with Rednose, I had no right to expect any help and got it anyway, within 1 hour nonetheless. Now I will go and do good unto others as hanover has done unto me.
Hey hanover. I am wondering, have you looked at 7bit's arb-o-mat? It seems like a powerful strategy could be developed by combining analysis of your Recent Strength Indicator with that of the Arb-O-Mat. (Cointegration/synthetic hedge).
your post "I don’t understand the complex math behind the Kelly formula, but have always reasoned that it ‘oversized’ positions (in terms of what is workable in a trading context), because its aim is to maximize profit with respect to loss, while not giving special attention to the possibility of total ruin (account wipeout). Because I’m not very well versed in statistics, I’ve calculated optimal position sizes by plugging win rates and sizes into a Monte Carlo type analysis, and then allowed a ‘good’ margin for error. In terms of what amounts to ‘irretrievable’ drawdown, we need to think in both statistical and psychological terms, as one individual’s appetite for risk might not be the same as another’s."
My bot produces rather good entries, but I use a feature (rentry system) that add new trades on losing trades. that's not a martinguale because I only rentry if a good signal occurs. But anyway it's a rentry system so it's dangerous in some manner. So, althought some part of MM is included in the EA, I also developped a sister EA (MasterEA) that is a profit traker in order to close all the trades very frequently. This reduce dramaticaly the DD.
But that's not enough, and I am sure that rather most of developers that concern most about the entries, the key is the MM. So I just read an old (2007) post from you (see below) and would like to know what are your best finding about MM, position sizing etc. If you have a well idea, and perhaps some code I can use, thanks a lot.
Hi,
I was trying to reference your SR indicator in a script (well technically its an EA) that I'm making. Basically I want to see if closing my real orders at SR levels would have yielded higher profit.
I'm unable to get your indicator to generate rectangle objects by calling it in iCustom() with different values of HistoricalShift. I know it has no index buffers - but shouldn't calling it in such a way generate the Objects anyway?
If not, how would I get your indicator to programmatically generate SRs for different historical shifts as specified by my EA? (and then access them with ObjectGet())
Always the voice of reason - Doesnt open his mouth without first applying thought, and only speaks when there is something intelligent to say. If we were all like Hanover this place would be so much more productive.

Well done Hanover... you deserve this. Will you be divulging details of your venture? I for one would be very interested to hear about your plans. It was only a matter of time before someone would come to notice your obvious strengths and offer you the chance to use them.
Simply the best & most helpful trader i have seen in this forum. Amazing guy with amazing Knowledge. I read your lot of posts. Your every Post is Gold. Thanks
Just a note, Hanover is one of the most articulate and knowledgeable people I have seen. His ability to cut through the statistical crap is outstanding.
You're the greatest person with high hospitality especially in serving us though just we're ordinary member of this community.
God bless you always and thanks a lot from the deep of my heart.
Hanover looks at trading from a different but clear and logical perspective. His knowledge of probability allows him to approach the market armed with undisputed facts, rather than hope and guess. I, for one, never pass by a Hanover post.
