Crude Inventory Climbs 4 Million Barrels: EIA Data
U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged 16.8 million barrels per day during the week ending September 8, 2023, which was 177 thousand barrels per day more than the previous week’s average. Refineries operated at 93.7% of their operable capacity last week. Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels per day. Distillate fuel production decreased last week, averaging 5.0 million barrels per day. U.S. crude oil imports averaged 7.6 million barrels per day last week, increased by 812 thousand barrels per day from the previous week. WTI Holds Yesterday's Gains Despite Big Crude/Product Builds, US Production Hike
Oil prices extended gains overnight after EIA confirmed OPEC's report that the world faces a huge supply shortfall. Demand will eclipse supply by 1.2 million barrels a day on average during the second half, the IEA projected Wednesday. That follows a forecast from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries that the fourth quarter may see the biggest deficit in more than a decade. “The market is really tightening in the second half of the year,” Toril Bosoni, head of the IEA’s oil market division, said in a Bloomberg Television interview. “We’re at risk of seeing continued tightness in the market, ...
