Market participants are weighing up the potential effect of China's upcoming controls on exports of gallium and germanium, announced yesterday, with some suppliers hiking their offers but the prevailing mood being one of caution rather than panic. From August 1, exporters of gallium and germanium will be required by the government to follow the relevant export licensing procedures and submit their applications to the ministry of commerce of the central government that will review the application.
