I may be onto something finally. No martingale. They ALWAYS blow up an account at some point or else eat up all the margin and then there is margin call.
This a free ea I found tromping around on mql5 forums... the author has several eas many of them for sale.
It considers candle power and moving average.
Have it set up on 4 majors since Asia opened. It's just before US opening and it has closed 2 time for 400 pips. It's set for $20 profit using the closeall for profit expert and is working on another 200 pips. That's on the 15min for .01...
The idea is that although the expert is sometimes wrong... not that often really. It is profitable over the long term... just not dramatically so, by placing it on 4 pairs it's chances of hitting the $20 goal is increased using the close all for profit expert.
There are wide stops and wide tp's on the individual pairs.
There is a scenario that if all four pairs are losers it could be a big loss. Since they all trade tied to the USD it is possible.
Still experimenting with how to do this. But I think a basket like this is the way to go.
Whether it should be different experts or pairs that trade differently like some of JPY's not tied directly to the USD?

Hi. Not right now. This is much more interesting. close all positions with an expert set up on several pairs.

The idea was that if there were several pairs being traded by an expert or experts that not all of them would be losers and there would be net gain at some point if the experts actually were able to give a statistical edge for profit. I took the stop losses out and tested to see if they would hedge each other out for gain. I must have been sleeping and dreaming. Good thing it was on a demo.

But I remembered a really great expert we developed in 2012 or so. Lost interest in it when the coder got frustrated and then got caught up in the Fukushima disaster. He was in Japan just a few miles away when the tsunami hit. He was a fantastic coder. I hope he was okay. Haven't heard from him since.
I dug it out of the files and have been running it again. This may be the expert that would work nicely with a basket and net gain strategy. Or in combination with another expert or experts on the pairs.
Entries are triggered closing outside a channel. There are a lot of parameters that can be optimized.
There are some custom indies needed.
Can't find the T3MA so I haven't been using it.

Very time consuming... the optimization.
What I am doing for back testing is optimizing on open prices settings from 11/1/15 to 11/30/16
Choosing the high score. Then using on every tick setting for that period of time...
If it holds reasonably... then testing it forward using that optimization for 12/1/16 to 12/31/16.
So far it has held very very well. the forward month is in profit for the last year's optimization.

That will mean doing this each month this for the best pairs. Which seem to be the Asian non USD matched ones, EURJPY, AUDJPY EURBGP etc.
Then setting the optimized expert settings on 4 or 5 pairs with a close at profit target maybe 200 pips... Not sure how much I should shoot for. That might be too little.... will see over time.

I tried it with roughly optimized settings last week and although there some successful days I had taken all the stops out... thinking the winners would out perform the losers... But that is not the case...

So I am leaving the stops in this week and using the finely tuned optimized settings.

The dragon expert is, I have to say, one of best I've tested. Not just because I designed it but because it tests out so nicely.

The graph is EURGBP for the prior 12 months... When tested forward one month it is also in profit.

Should probably be on the journals forum. Oh well I'm here.
I see with optimizing it is not just to get a setting that shows profit.
But really optimizing is useful when you already have some parameters in mind.
Have been testing the dragon on 5 min.
I optimized for 1/1/16 to 12/31/16 for about 10 pairs,. It took forever.
Have them up and running on a couple of platforms with stops and close all for profit expert.
It doesn't work all that well. There is still the dipping down into big drawdown with no guarantee of not getting big losses.
then it occurred to me that to optimize for a year is too much time. It is only the 5 min chart.
Maybe just go back one month and bring the best settings forward for the present month.
But that didn't work either. Just because a setting was profitable last month doesn't mean it will be profitable this month.And more often than not it wasn't profitable.
Just taking profitable optimizing setting was not the way to go. Sometimes the optimized stops were very large, and profit settings also. Which meant the trade could be open for a very long time with big drawdown.
Then I saw that I have to tell the expert what I want. Set for stops and profit and then optimize for everything else.
I have been using 99% 1 min data in the tester optimizing the 1 minute chart for 1 week and bringing those setting forward for the next week. It's a hit. At least with EURUSD. Will test other pairs.
I'm looking for tp 10, trail 5, sl 10. It's working. Taking the optimized settings for the previous week to be used for the current week.
Danger of big drawdown is eliminated, there are from 1 to 10 trades per week. For a week in net gain.
Stop 10 is too tight... going for stop 30. With trailing starting 15 pips.

There is an inverse version of the dragon.
Instead of buy it sells for the same signal.
Can't find the t3ma indi. set it to false.
check the paper clip.. the dss indi has been posted before.
