Hello, maybe I missed the approach but there is such a vast number of pages and this thread continues from a previous one, so if someone can enlighten me on how the actual trades are set I would appreciate it. Is it a straddle before the news or is its trades made after news released or what?

Enter market order in the direction of the price movement seconds before a news event, then trail when in profit, close if in loss. That's it. Enjoy!

Think this is where I need to post

Looking for excuses regarding UK's CPI
It was the Olympics and the holiday season- petrol was low, commodities were off

Looking at reports recently - PMI services rebounded strongly in August as did manufacturing and construction, obviously due in part to the cheap pound

Tomorrow is employment and jobs
Looking at jobs- these have had a cracking month in August

Wages have gone up for new hires- higher wages will mean higher prices
So I will expect estimates to get beaten.
Also Crude Oil inventories in the US might have shrunk - so that might reign in the dollar
We are at a support level on daily pivots (S2)
So hopefully traders will see that August's CPI was an outlier
A 50% retracement from Tuesdays fall is near an S1 pivot

Lets see how it goes

Was trying AU, but no real direction. Curiously, I had same direction signal in AJ and EA. Best to stay with majors...

I did not trade this but I was watching the spread (ECN broker) At one point AUD/USD which normally sits at about 15 rose to 90. So I think AUD for me is literally untradable

Hey everyone, What brokers do you use?? Just curious. I was with TD ameritrade here in america but there commissions and slippage are just ridiculous during news trading so I switch to FXCM. My friend said good things about them. I am thinking of taking my trading to an offshore brokerage that accepts US residents. Any recommendations??

spreads I tried to track tracked after news : AU 8.6. AJ: 9.7 EA: 23.1 AU and AJ, tradable with a safety SL, but not EA, no way

Yeah 9 pip spread is slightly high for an ECN during Asian news but not unheard of. It really comes down to how much you get slipped as well. You might have the tightest spreads around and you do all your research, pair accordingly, have your risk reward all accurately calculated. Then ........... you get slipped 20 pips and you stop loss doesn't move accordingly and then your whole prep for your trade goes out the window as now you are risking twice what you were prepared to risk .

US Core Retail Sales

Very tight calendar turns to this release: Initial Jobless Claims, Producer Price Index, Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Survey, NY Empire State Manufacturing Index and our retail sales - Retail Sales. If there is a synergy - the movement will not be - will be sluggish mess. It should be noted that the negative trend of the statistics would be greatly better than positive, since the probability of the Fed raising interest rates (next week) has fallen from 25% to 12% for the week.
In general, be careful. The higher the trigger, the more it may be an independent indicator
