Hey Prez,

New subscriber here as well. I dabbled in VSA years ago, but have lost a lot of that knowledge it seems. I've got some studying still to do in getting up to speed on the VSA terms and setups, as well as going over your previous posts from the VSA thread, (still working my way through 'em.)

​Welcome and I hope to see you around in the New Year. Just remember that I am not pure VSA, I trade my own version of it mixed with my zones.

On vacation this week so don't plan on much trading I was up early however and ended up taking one trade today. Short GBPUSD with entry at 4920 below the low of the ND (second hour of London session), SL at 4930. Ended up taking profit at 4:1 after that WR down bar.

Everyday... tell me would you take this screaming SOW, lack of demand right at Friday's zone low which closed 90 minutes after LO? Had I been more focused on trading I most definitely would have.

Even works on CFD's like WTI...

LO, series of ACC along the high of the zone and up we go. See that sneaky ND right before the push up but we are smart enough NOT to short a ND above the high of a zone so we are kept on the right side. LO started the fun with a nice down bar that the SM bought into. Lovely stuff.

​With respect to WTI (or crude light for some of you) you will find that many times your UHV zones will have at least one (if not more) level at either the round or mid numbers. The rounds like $37, $38 etc... really do play key roles in the movement of Oil.

Such as right now we are seeing some supply at $38 which is a shared level from several previous zones. If $38 is taken and held by the bulls the next key level on my chart is $39 and then $40. I watch also (especially if a zone prints a level at them) the mid numbers such as $38.50, $39.50 etc... but place less weight on these.

Just something to keep in mind from my years worth of notes on Oil and how it moves (anyone who knows me knows that I love trading Oil and it has always been one of my main money makers).

Oil is one item where I place a lot of value on the RN's, much less so on currencies other than the huge round numbers like par (1.0000) etc... except when my zone levels print at the smaller round numbers. For me this just a bit of added confluence but it's the volume zone level that governs for me overall.

I hope that no one got trapped by the SM on GBPUSD at LO. Nice fake out to the upside before taking the market down for the day until NYO where we bottomed out after the end of the 1st hour.

The zone from yesterday would have us biased to longs come LO based on where PA stood however the zone and how we trade it would have also kept us from going long if we followed the LO PA. This is why it is critical to have hard trade plan rules and why it is equally important to understand how to read market opening PA so we avoid getting suckered into the initial fake moves that LO is famous for. Now had LO taken PA back into the zone on an increased volume down bar I'd be looking for a reason to get long... instead their initial move was up to the high of the zone with a fake break out and then an immediate sellers move back in.

Check out your 5 min chart...

  1. 45 mins after LO we got a lovely ND into the zone high from below after pushing back into the zone - here we are inside the zone and have seen support at 50% previously so we need to consider both the mid and L as possible support points. Higher risk but after that LO fake out and complete lack of demand I would take this trade. Also we could for sure plan this trade and SL placement to get 1:1 before the mid and better than 2:1 before then low. As we see we could have gotten much more.
  2. 2 hrs and 20 mins after LO we get a lovely ND into the low of the LO zone (which at the time was the days highest volume zone) - here we are below the low of both zones so this is as clean and low risk a set-up as we get.

Just 2 examples of how one could have gotten in short. There are others... Find the ones that suit your trading style and plan.

Short on S&P mini 2072, SL 2075. Final TP TBD. Will take 1:1 on half the trade upon a return to the days low.

No buyers support bar on the 30 min chart up into the low of yesterday's zone.

​So far the trade has hit 3:1 so I've locked in at 1:1 on part 2 after closing half at 1:1. See where the market opens back up here in a few hours. The indices close early tomorrow and the markets are closed Friday so if this trade survives the open and continues down tomorrow without taking me out I will close before the end of the day.

Great to see you posting in your own thread Jason. I had to laugh when I read post 19 that some people said VZA was a losing system hahaha

Well Steve I hope you do post more and now you know where to find me. I want you to know that the doors are always open my old friend. With you and Liam both back walking the FF hallways it must be time for some sort of reunion!
