Hey, I'm looking for help with this indicator here. This HA Smoothed on my MT4 is super spread, and NOTHING I've done is changing it not even changing the settings. can anyone help?

Hi There,
I have a question about the Trailing Step Vs Trailing stop..

My goal is as follows:

 

  1. Initial SL of -10 Pips
  2. When Price moves to +10 Pips, I want to lock in profit & set the stop to +5 Pips
  3. After that I want to trail the stop until it eventually stops out, every time it moves 5 pips, I want to move my stop another 5 pips.

What settings would I need for the Trailing Stop / Step ? I.e What is the initial trailing stop, and the value of the step required?

Hi,
i´ve been using the FOREXFACTORY.COM for news trading, but now the olsen scale (SMQ) information isn't there anymore. The website wich provided this information is "under maintenance" for some time and forexfactory.com even removed historic data. Is there other website where i can find that information?

Hi trendytradin,

Can I ask where you get your market data from? E.g. today there was USD MBA Mortgage Applications (SEP 19) the only way I could get this was from twitter! How do you get this data as the market gets it?

Hey guys,

I find this indicator that gives trend signal for currency pairs. It's free and no repaint.
To me, it's easy and simple to use. No complicated figures and lines. If the indicator is above the price (Red line), there is a downward trend. If you see the blue line is under the price, there is an upward trend.

I think it could give more accurate trend forecast if used with other indicators. But i still don't have any idea about it.
You guys can check it out and give suggestion plz?

Hey there guys I'm brand new to forex, i've been studying trading regular old stocks for about 8 months or so, but i'm moving to a timezone that isn't too friendly for those who want to trade NYSE (3:30am market open yikes!).. I just started trying a couple paper trades in think or swim on USD/JPY, and i'm a bit baffled.. first of all, I have no idea what it means when I place a buy order, it starts with 10,000 "units" and then each arrow click up increases it by another 10,000 "units." is this 10,000 US dollars worth of yen or what? and is this like a standard stock where I buy it if I want to go long and am expecting the price on the chart to go up (the yen to increase in value??). or is it reversed? I noticed when I place a market order, it seems like my broker is saying the price I paid is 2.9 pip (i think i'm using the correct denomination) higher than the candlestick even shows the market having been.. at 7:19pm eastern US time it says my market order for USD/JPY was filled at 107.047, but the candlestick on the chart showed the highest it traded at was 107.018 at that specific one minute candle.. is this something brokers do to stay profitable? i'm confused... i've read a few articles explaining the basic differences between forex and stocks but perhaps there is one that is a little more in depth? thanks for any help!

oh and one other thing, how do i calculate how much risk i'm taking on.. not sure if i should be buying 10,000 units or 400,000 units if i'm going to make any money..

I agree with 'srt'. The School of Pipsology there is an awesome place to start to understand the absolute basics of FX. I just finished there and now exploring forums in both FF and babypips, learning every day!

Hi there, new to trading (3 weeks), saw the spike in USD today after the FOMC statement and have a few questions/issue in regard to this. My first thought was if I had a sell order set up below the current rate and a buy order set above it, surely I couldn't lose? Whichever way the spike went it would trigger the sell or buy order and I would profit from the trade. However thinking more about this would the broker server not be able to execute these orders to high volume? Also, is it a good idea to avoid being in a open trade when high volatility events are about to happen as I guess stop losses would be missed with these high volumes?

From what I've been told this seems to work in theory but in reality there is whats called "slippage". You won't get filled in at the price you want and maybe if you tried to do so today on FOMC statement about QE ending or any other high volatility data release than you might have been filled in near the bottom(or top) and miss out the whole move. Hope that helps .

I'm a self educated full time trader since beginning this year. I've been learning for almost 2 years now and I have developed my own trading system (5 min, USD/JPY, candlestick patters, DTOSC indicator and confirmation of higher timeframes) with the help of a mentor. When my trading doesn't go right I check myself and my system. The majority of the time it's me who's making mistakes.

I like my system and I'm not interested in other indicators or other stuff. I analyse every month and fine tune myself and sometimes my system accordingly.

I can't give anybody advice about indicators or other stuff because that's not where my interest lies. I do believe in knowing yourself (huge fan of Van Tharpe) and knowing the market (huge fan of Al Brooks).

firstly I think its real cool that your helping people and its what i hop to do when/if i ever achieve success in this market. I am 19 and have been struggling with Forex for the past year and a half. this is partly due to perusing other interests but also because well its just really fuc***g hard. I would be grateful if you could answer some questions I have, and perhaps share some or your knowledge. PS i'm not sure how this forum works as this is my first post so i'm not certain on if i'm posting in the correct place or how i will receive a reply.
