Just banked it for 8.4 pips another 8.4% in just 4 minutes can't be bad can it???

Nice clean pullback yes. However I have two points of concern (a pain in the ass I know );

 

  1. Why did you not get in lower after the HA change back to green. Looks as though you gave away 5-10ish pips?
  2. Right below that 8300 with a previous rejection at that level. Would feel better had we broken and gone to say 8315 and then retraced.

See how she goes.

Still think the whole 1% per pip is crazy as hell but who am I to judge! Nice trading and good job getting in and out banking pips rather than holding for a runner watching your profits fade. Get in, get out and take your piece of the pie before anyone even knows you were there.

Good points as for the entry its about as close as i could get as spread at mo nearly 2 pips and as i placed pending order it took off so just hit it and thats where it landed.

Good point about the BRN but I find once a strong trender has had a go and taking 2 steps back it normally sails straight through. Then I have the BRN to protect my entry too.

But keep up the critique its really helping.

I see its still going but like you I thought lets just grab a handful can't see it keep pushing much more??? but they do don't they just keep on pushing, guesss I gotta learn to trade the trend until the end.

Just a quick reply about the 1% per pip risk thing.

I see it this way, if you only trade a percentage of your outstanding balance and you have an edge then its almost irrelevant as to the % you risk.

Also if we get 5 pip stops then I'm only risking 5% of my account. A bit too much for some guys but fine by me.

Lastly I don't usually put all my trading money in my trading account usually 20% of it and leave the rest at home nice and safe under my bed. Just in case some terrorist act upsets the market and blows through my stops taking all my trading money with it.

Therefore I'm only risking even with a 10 pip stop about 2% of my trading fund.

To be honest with you this is early days yet as I am sure we will soon start catching larger and larger moves with smaller and smaller stops. We are still very early into a very good strategy which we all will develop as we go along.

Lets just keep sharing and see where it ends.Great working with you and absolutely love your paper BE system, love it!!

Look at that bloody GBPCAD taking the mickey out of me grabbing 8.4 pips when I could of had 2 to 3 times more!!!

gotta sort this trade management stuff out.

Hey pres78, look at that gbpjpy , surely its not going to slice through that daily level without taking a pause??? It can't do can it???

Well if it does then that is definately me done with higher timeframes , full stop. Waste of time if you ask me its all about the momentum and the momentum is the money and thats what we're after, the money!!!

Not until all system check points are neatly checked off starting with confirmed trend change CCI 210 under -100. For now we trend upward or enter period of range...

I hear you but how about this is where the daily turns down for a couple of days???

You could short this now with a tight stop go to BE very very quickly and see what happens??

It could be a momentous short trade!!!

Why risk my hard earned money on a whim? Could this be the turning point? Sure. Could also be profit taking...

If this is a turning point the CCI 210 will go into trend. I may lose 50 pips waiting but if this is a turning point with a good drop then there will be loads of pips left in the move. If 50 pips is enough to make or break the trade then the downmove really wasn't all that worth it, now was it? I have nothing in my CCI trading plan for guessing trend changes. I am testing some early trend entry stuff but it's all still just in the testing stages and would never be shorting at this point especially with the CCI 210 still above 0. Even my early entry testing requires the CCI 210 to hit trend (+100 or -100) so there will be no knife catching (also know as trade and pray) added to my trade plan .

The reality is how many tight SL entries would you be willing to try. During a trend change we have a series of mark downs, mark-ups to gather sell orders which can cause what looks like a spiky, ranging market. This is a tight SL killer. We can see multi down day moves in a uptrend and have it be nothing more than a retrace to gather buys. The nice thing with trading a 1 min system is that if the retrace is good enough we can make money selling on those downdays as our CCI 210 enters sell mode and then when they start buying again and the trend CCI 210 hit +100 we go back to buying the dips so we can profit both directions. If the retrace turns into full down mode well guess what... we keep selling the rallies etc...

No need to pick tops and bottoms Clive as there is always enough meat in the middle to fill us up nicely.

The reality is how many tight SL entries would you be willing to try.

I have to tell you, this is what kills this sort of CCI technique most of the times...feeling that it is time to enter with red/green Ha toward the trend...but stop loss is hit, trying again, it maybe hit again......but idea is - there is no choice, must try again, as never know...I traded SP500 for many years like this...same technique except I did not have strong/weak currencies meter...I did well with it...now I am following your thread...

Thanks great response and your reasoning is making it all clearer to me as to why we don't sell these uptrend tops until its well and truly turned.

Guess I have this knife catching personality and missing fingers to proof it too. But don't give up on me just because I say the same thing over and over again, just takes time to thrash it out of me.

Thing is you see the world needs pioneers and trail blazers to discover new worlds and new ways to do things, otherwise we'd all still be living in draughty old caves. That being said theres a lot of dead ones around too!!!

But seriously I am getting the point from your good self, Mr V., Martin and now a couple of other guys on here, so don't worry I'm getting there and picking up from the awesome experience of you top traders.

I honestly believe my discipline and patience as increased ten fold, why sometimes are take up to 5 seconds to consider a trade before entering!!

I will say that you take criticism very well and in this business that is key to growth as a trader. If we cannot learn from those who have been there and done that then we are doomed. I've learned way more over the years from people telling me to dig my head out of my ass, clean it off and then screw it on straight than I have from anybody. If it wasn't for the tough love I got from people I have never met but whom I now consider to be great friends I would still be where I was years ago. Van and I may seem like we are being a bit harsh at times but quite frankly you drive us a bit nuts because the forest is right in front of your eyes...

I'd rather be the guy walking the nicely groomed trail than the guy fighting the bears and snakes as he chops his way through uncharted territory. Do you realize how many trail blazers ended up walking right off the edge of a cliff simply because they didn't know it was there?

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on this strategy? You're obviously an experienced trader, dare I say you have the sound of an exprofessional???

I will say in my defence that its really important to have a low risk/high reward strategy to be successful at trading and its that thought that drives all my strategies and trading psychology after all if we can risk a handful of pips and grab armfuls its got to be a winner, hasn't it??

Now you know and I know that the huge daily level at 174.76 cannot be met without some sort of bounce, last time it bounced 1,000 pips , now I would never expect a 2nd bounce to be so hard but a couple of hundred at least surely?? So all I'm saying when we meet such daily levels on our little old 1 min we've gotta expect some sort of bounce surely?? Can't just go through here without, can it??

So whats the harm when it hits it to take a quick short with a 10 pip stop and see what happens, only gotta get a couple of these right and we're laughing all the way to the bank. Of course we're gonna get plenty wrong but its these sort of low risk/high reward entries every now and again that are gonna pay us a nice little bonus on top of our everyday winners.

You see I do like these highly probable trades we are taking everyday with the strong trending pairs, can't miss really can we? These are our bread and butter. But every now and again when an opportunity like this presents itself I feel its worth a go just to risk 10 pips.

It won't happen everyday thats for sure, maybe not even every week but just occasionally, this one for instance is a previous high 6 months ago, how often will they come up???

Anyway I hear what everyone is saying and yes I agree when it comes to our everyday trading strategy to not pick tops and bottoms. We don't do that, we run with the crowd or more importantly with the money, of course we do. But every now and again a golden opportunity comes along like this and I personally don't like to let opportunities like this go begging so I will definately be having a go at it and get to BE quickly and see how it goes. But don't worry I won't be making a habit of it.

OK Clive I'll bit even though this post was not directed at me and I promise this is the last time I will comment on this topic, I'll even pinky swear if you want.

Today's high 174.753, low after that high 174.610 or a whopping 14.3 pips and where are we now? Back at the days high. So I have to ask... where and how would you enter this test short with a 10 pip SL? What is the exact plan?

Also as I asked before how many 10 pip SL's are you willing to risk trying to grab this "possible" turn? You recognize you will get plenty wrong but how many is too many or how many are you willing to try? 10 pip SL at 10% risk on a whim = wasted pips/% given back from your system trades. I know how awesome it sounds to grab a 100:1 trade bagging 1000 pips off a 10 pip SL but tell me honestly would you hold it for the whole 1000? Honestly would you? If you did how long would you hold thinking there was more downmove? How many pips would you give back waiting and hoping that 1000 would turn into 2000?

Sure last time we were here we dropped 1000 pips, that is very true so I ask again what is the harm in waiting 50 pips for the CCI 210 to agree. 1 min has to turn, then 5, then 15, then 30, then 1hr, then 4hr, then Daily. To get a 1000 pip drop you don't do it without the lower TF's turning through a progression so why not let it play out?

Did you go back to the last time we were here (6 months ago) and analyze how the drop occured? How many pips from the high before the system shorts started? How many pips were lost by waiting. I think you would be surprised and how few it really was.

Clive, I can tell you even more...

I have been trading LIVE very successfully my personal technique.

However, what you have here is exactly the way I have traded at SP500 index futures, except I traded volume bars, not time bars..you get less bars to look at and there is more power to the bars...I will be following this thread with interest...my only issue with all was the entries, as during the beginning of the CHOP - stop losses galore as Ha changes color and 1min CCI go's up/down....so it is important even to see -200 +200 on 15min CCI, before looking for entries on 1 min.....
