I think we would need to look at some more rules that allow us to follow the trending market and perhaps looking at the other sessions as well.. I did the same backtesting for my EA, actually GMT0400 to 0800 would be best. And those trending or have the big average daily range pair would have better result of course. Personally still looking how to tweak trade management in order to earn more, since entry signal more likely is gambling/guessing, really can't do anything on entry because it is what it is.

The last week or so, I have been working on moving from manually trading to an EA. Made a few mistake trades from the EA testing, but I have it working well now. Last week also was a tough one for GBP entries, so gave back some PIP's.

Moving forward for evaluation purposes, I have set up a second account to evaluate the Asian filter. This will be listed as Frankfurt Breakout EA w/Asian Filter, while the other account will take all trades on the Frankfurt BO. This Asian filter will take the bars from NY close to our entry point and must be above / below as well.

Both accounts have the 75% ATR filter, which means if we have a very large candle on the BO and has movement of greater than 75% of the daily ATR, no trade is taken. However, if in the next few candles the price retraces and falls back below the 75% filter, the EA will take the trade looking for continuation.

I am still using 50% ATR target and close above other side of range as stop loss.

Looking forward to seeing the Asian filter results and having EA's working well...

Hi Pip,
I'm a newbie but I think that this thread is a very good one since it is very logical. The Frankfurt open is the start ot the European market, before London.
I think that the breakout at the Frankfurt open from the Asian market can give us a slight indication of the trend in the London open, meaning that if we catch
the breakout movement at Frankfurt open we can get more pips at London market.
The problem we have is how to avoid false breakout at Frankfurt open.
I'm very anxious to about your Asian filter.
I really appreciate if someone can come up with an idea about how to filter the false breakout.

Krumpy, thanks for your post. Do you have any details? Which instruments were profitable? Screen shot of the back test results, etc?

At some point down the road, we might have to look at other rules or filters to improve the system, but I believe at this point we need to be patient. This project is only 6 weeks old and it is a marathon, not a 100m sprint. We are beginning with evaluating the Asian criteria and let's see the results. Next we could look at the exit, which Bull Bear has posted about. However, I believe evaluating one variable at a time is important, so our conclusions are not clouded with other testing. More detail on your above statement would be helpful. Thanks

It will be interesting to see the Asian filter results and provides a better win % by truly filtering some false breakouts. Sounds good on paper. We will see. The other criteria I use is waiting for the close of the candle. How many times do we see price spike and return. I give up a few more pips waiting to enter and exit based on this, but at least to have a failed trade price has to work back through broken support or resistance, which I believe confirms we were wrong on our bias or trade direction.

Great thread

I have been looking for a good Frankfurt/London BO EA, but it seems an impossible task... I tested this indi + EA and they looked incredibly good: manually, the indi does great. It is basically an adaptation forthe EA of another one found in FF. The problem is that the EA does nothing...

Have you finally produced an EA? Would you share it?

Or, if anyone can check my attachments and make the EA work, it would be amazing. Thank you!!!
