Tony, you negotiate BOJ conference? Here have one to 3 hours for the JPY. If someone negotiate please contact as it will be my first time. I can not imagine how long should I leave the EA triggered.

Getting bored without any actions for days. Think I'll put in my bets for the following news releases in US tomorrow:

Core Retail Sales
Unemployment Claims

In the meantime, need a lot of discipline not to participate even though I see lots of movements in the markets.

Yep it's excruciatingly slow. I was worried I'd miss all the action working from the office this week (boss supervising means no trading), but nope. Not this far. Yesterday I bagged a sweet 80 pips but that was with my basic 4H PA strategy. But I shouldn't have deviated from my plan to rigorously follow this strategy, though. I'm my own worst enemy at this point.

Could you share your broker name with us. Also, know that your experience with them as far as news trading is going to be totally different on Live vs Demo, so the best way to test a broker always is to test on Live with small lots. It always works on Demo, that's how they get the newbs suckered in.

40 pip spread on Oanda on NU, that is truly insane. Cant trade with those kind of spreads, gotta find another broker.

Try the broker IronFX because I am customer there, and recommend. Also recommend ActivTrades, Dukascopy Bank, MIG Bank and CitiFXPro.

In the past one week, EURUSD with Oanda was also quite un- tradable during US hours. It went as high as 15 pips between 8:45 and 9:00 am ET, understandably due to NFP release.

IMHO... spread and slippage is a fact of life in trading. During high volatility times, the high spread makes it quite impossible to enter and exit the market at a profit.

If only there is some way to circumvent this by figuring out which direct price will take earlier, enter with a tight stop and then ride the wave if it goes our way.

Another concept that might be worth considering, is enter after the initial spike, when the price retraced. Think I'll observe the behaviour during such major releases then share my findings.

Call me fickle, I'm going back to my old broker - Maybank Kim Eng.

I put in my pending orders in Oanda, and it got cancelled, maybe due to the spread widening, maybe due to slippage which went beyond the upper / lower boundaries of 1.5 pips I have set. So I broke even in a way, but it won't do if this keep happening. I have to be in a trade to be making money at all.

The good thing about my old broker, which is available in South East Asia, is that it allows hedging. You can have long and short on the same currency pair, in the same account. That had saved my ass quite a number of times. Only thing that gives is the higher spread - 2 to 3 pips for EUR... can you believe that?

I'm using Admiral Markets for 1 year. It's quite good broker in my opinion. Only the slippage is 2-4 pips but spread is okay, never over 5-9 pips, usually 1-2. I recommend it.

Did anyone get any good trades today? I was at work during the London session and the beginning of the NY session so I might have missed something..

But actually I must admit not putting on a trade for two days is starting to feel good because the pressure of continually being exposed to the markets is slowly starting to fade. Now I'm just looking to get in when the gettin' in is good!
