is still a relatively new forex trader. but has some experience on stocks as a stockbroker.

today is the first time i experienced such an phenomomen event..a crazy non-farm payroll release.

just like to share with you guys what happened to me..

i was long on eurusd before the non-farm...in the money for 140 pips...with SL on breakeven.

on 930 sharp...my eurusd position immediately dropped by 100pips....im +50 pips gain on EURUSD eventually..

I thought that with a good non farm result, the whole fx market pairs will be very buoyant and should brighten things up on EUR currencies as well...I was wrong...

the only thing that is of consolation is that I hedged this pair with a USDJPY...

I am back on EURUSD long again at 1.298 as I expect the correction to be too much!

do give me some feedbacks on non-farms and what to expect please...

welcome and I dont know what type of experience you have in trading on the forex but my advice is to sim trade first.

NFP is called the muther of all economic new releaseses, one has to have a game plan when trading on these days as volatility increases 10 fold.
Most pros don't trade minutes b4 or after, instead prefering to wait until all the noise clears out. One thing is for sure, alot of money is either lost or made on these days and whatever your trading plan is and how its executed on such a day will determine which of these two camps you will belong in.
Intrestingly enuff, i had a similar position like you going into today: was long from yesterday.. in the money about 115pips, news hit and watched this reverse all the way down stoping me out for small loss... i usually try not to panic when a position erasing me gains especially day like this... what i find is that even when the news makes sense, the market doesn't care and does nonesense because of manipulation.

Before I leave another possibility of wave 5 since my last calculation of EW ended premature. I think we are still in wave 5. Remember possibility make your best judgement!
