I agree with this. Using an indicator to filter trades will also prevent you from getting in early on winning trades also. And since the strategy is dependent on the average winning trade being greater than the average losing trade, it's not a good idea to filter. My only "filter" (if you even want to call it a filter) would be major supports and resistances. Although as I have stated before you could also ignore these and still make profit. However in my experience not as much per dollar risked.

I don't know about the indicator you are using ... but from the chart is your first post , it seem to me that would be ok to let the positions run until an opposite signal is triggered. But close only the position in profits.

example... in that chart you show 5 signals .. 3 sells and 2 buys ..rt?
sooo.

enter short in 1st signal.... enter long in signal 2, close the sell because is in profit. enter short in signal 3 ... close buy because in profit. Enter long in signal 4.. leave the sell open (it seem in BE or in negative) Now your are fully hedged. Enter short in signal 4.. leave the sell and the buy open (seems that none of the 2 have profits...

at that point you net is +1 short.

I strongly advise to not hedge. If you're thinking of being net x lots short then do it with only one or all trades short. Don't have long trades and short trades open simultaneously. It is never an advantage from a mathematical standpoint. One could make the case that it helps from a psychological standpoint, but I would suggest to that person to get comfortable only being one directional. Hedging and closing trades that are only in profit is just a mind game being played onto oneself. A game that is ultimately costlier.

8 pips range that all just edit your mt4 chart change color

3 pips renko with filter -- I said before I used 3 pips and 8 pips -- 3 pips will give many trades in a day sl 9 pips plus spread - tp 18-21 pips tp

Hi TFS.

In general, what would be the mathematical disadvantage of having long and shorts open simultaneously?? Other then an occasional swap.

It is not a mind game, it is a strategic and more efficient way to utilize resources.

The psychological disposition should be that at one point on time we must stop the losses, one way or another, liquidating a debt to make a purchase or an out right purchase incurring in a second debt..

If I do the first, close an open position, my debts are equalized. (have no debt). My equity show the result.

If I do the second, my debts are also equalized (have 2 debt ). My equity show the result.

I am mathematically is the same shape, perhaps better if I plan to trade again, because I can liquidate all individual debts when it is to my advantage.

The key point is not to worry about the 2 open equalized debts.
One must look for the next entry according to the strategy rules.... then consider the optionscan how to purchase .. liquidating a debt or not.

I am using Renko charts too , I use 3 and 10 pip blocks with Hekn Ashi ..
Gonna keep watching your thread and will post some stuff as filters

why some renko boxes show wicks longer than the box?...for example, 10 pips renko box....the box goes up 14 pips BUT DONT CLOSE THE RENKO BOX and then goes down 10 pips and CLOSE THE BOX....why that?...the wick sometimes is larger than the box and doesnt close the box to that way....

Yes it's good to use bigger size -- you will get less trade and less false

I like to trade between 8 and 13

3 is too fast -- too many trades and many false signal
