New Idea for Sinewave Support & Resistance Indy!

Well, my brain has had all it can take for today.

Back at it again, can I get this done today or not? That is the question.

Round and round my little brain goes, where it stops nobody knows.

Well, I finally got the sinewave working pretty much the way it should. Except it seems like it is skipping over some of the code and I can't figure out why.

I also got it to show me when a breakout takes place and places a dot showing the direction. The only thing is I couldn't put it in the Sinewave S/R Text.mq4, I had to put it in the code for the SineSupportMod.mq4 for it to show the dots.

I think the buffers are all filled up with the max amount 8 and that is why I cannot get the signals in the same indy.

Try it out if you like, if anyone would like to help and get the last few bugs out of the Sinewave S/R Text.mq4 then be my guest or even better getting both signals in the same indy.

I have only messed with this for the last few months. It's been a thorn in my side and I won't give up getting it right.

Here is the indies, place both on your chart if you want to see the breakout signals and the text.

Thank you for your efforts, however, all I can see when I use the indicator is two straight line It's been doing this with all sinewave indicators I have tested so far. Apparently I'm not the only one, I don't get it. Any idea ?

make sure you have cycleperiod.mq4 in your indies folder. You need both to work.

Hi great work by the way, when i attach the indicators it shows text for some levels but not others ie it might show s for support but not the opposing r and visa vers at some point any idea why and how i might get lables to appear on all lines- thank you

I've checked the Sinewave indicator with S/R levels and I've noticed that there were some mistakes. I'm not sure of all the rules to set PB and END support or resistance lines, but here is a version that seems not too bad.

This sinewave indicator with S&R looks great, but I'm still strungling trying to find a profitable strategy using it. Does anybody have ideas to share?

I think we have to check at least two timeframes, because there are a lot of overshoots. Also when we are in cycle mode it is not very interesting to trade as often the price will already be at the end of the cycle when we enter.

So far the best trading strategy seems to look for a breakout on the low timeframe and check if the cycle is going in the same direction on the higher timeframe.

The problem is that we are often too late during cycle mode, in during trend mode, the price is doing anything.

You need the sinewave2.mq4 and CyclePeriod.mq4 indicators.

I just discovered this DV_SineSupportMod_Text.mq4 indicator on this forum and must say it’s great, especially because is doesn’t displays the Sinewave itself in a separate window. The S/R lines are indeed more suggestive and easier to read than the waves themselves. Dvarrin you have done a great job.
However there is a little detail that bothers me: too many PB and END messages displayed on the chart. Couldn't you introduce a limitation to let's say just for the last 5-10 messages to be displayed, older ones are useless anyway? When I clear my Objects List on my chart it takes too much time to delete those dozens of PB and END messages.
After I studied The Better SineWave Manual, I realised that the great potential of this indicator relies on the coincidence of these S/R lines on two different time frames, because what is a breakout trend in the shorter time frame is the end/start of a cycle on the larger time frame, and these S/R coincidences on different time frames, gives a high probability/low risk signal. But using two different charts, or just switching time frames, is not so practical. So I think this indicator could be perfect and easy to read, if it would display on the same chart the S/R levels for two different time frames. One time frame if is set to 0, than displays the current time of the chart, and the possibility to chose a second time frame of 5, 15, 60, 240, 1440 minutes. The colours and sizes of the S/R levels being different and customizable. I can't even imagine how easy or tough could be programming such an indicator, but it would be a new one for sure, and a very powerful signal giving. It seems that we have at least two excellent programmers on this forum, and if they are still active, such an indicator could be done for the benefit of all of us.

I have been following your thread regarding the Hilbert sine wave, my search started after I found the website emini watch. I must commend you on a excellent programming job so far, from the charts you posted its obvious that you are a brilliant thinker as you version of Hilbert sine wave is almost identical to the Better sine wave version. I hope you have not completely given up on this project as I have not seen any recent developments and I was just wondering if you were able to finally fine tune the coding. Also have you been able to test it on the Tradestation platform

Agree with SineWave (last post)! Any latest developments on this indy?

Personally, I would even contribute financially if that was a factor....

I love the work done so far on this project. I hope Scottstone & dvarrin are still around and in the mood to carry this project further. I am a Nooby and not a coder, but feel this is what I need to help me find the start & finish of the cycles. This where I am failing in my trading attempts.

I would like to show you my last attempt to create the Better Sinewave indicator for MT4. It is very similar to my previous version, but I removed some refresh problem appearing when using my previous indicator.

A little change to my indicator. To draw the support and resistance level, we wait for the sinewave indicator lines to cross. Then to draw a support level we wait for a higher high. On the previous version, I was drawing the support at the low of the bar making the higher high, but I've changed the indicator to set the support level at the low of the previous bar. And Same for resistance levels.

I'm looking for the sinewave indicator from John Ehlers using the weighted moving average. This is the one from his book "Rocket Science for traders", and not the one from "Cybernetic analysis...". Anybody knows where I could find it?

I'm also looking for a momentum indicator taking volume into account. Is there something available?
