ohh err missus, i just watched it as a documentary on the history of money and monetary policy, wasn't trying to push any kind of agenda on to you... figures tho' given all the accolades it received, i've also had a brief email dialogue with it's maker and must admit that i found him to be a little dubious.. well thanks for pointing that out, will rewatch it with a more critical eye...

Chilly, haven't read 'How to trade stocks' but "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator".

The most important lessons learned from Jesse Livermore are waiting for the right time (not betting on every race), starting with a small position and adding only if market does expected, not adding to a losing position, taking loss without a second thought if market is not doing expected, entering in three to four trades but early on getting confirmation of direction, sitting tight until target is reached (killing).

But I didn't fully get his logic of paying the top prices and to what he referred to as the Line of Least Resistance. Therefore have my own definition of the Line of Least Resistance and add only when first trade is green but not necessarily paying top prices.

I'm reading "The New Market Wizards" by Jack D. Schwager. Just a couple of chapters in, not very impressed...

yep, problem, reaction, solution, that's the standard modus operandi, joe public gets suckered every time...

jury is still out on the oz documentary, i think the basic premise of his argument is that a return to a gold standard would still just give control of the money supply to a select group of oligarchs or elites, and a fractional reserve system with paper notes can still be operated gold standard or not... but will get back to you on it..

edit: the problem is un-backed fiat (or essentially fake) currency and the fractional reserve system and ok the documentary doesn't address solutions to this, which validates your argument against it somewhat.. although i would still contend that it is a reasonably good presentation on the current situation and on the historical context...

I was being a bit facetious (who me guvernor???) I'm actually a huge fan of all of Kubrick's films post strangelove..

I have a few interesting theories on 2001, did you know that apparently the monolith dimensions are almost identical to those of a cinema screen? implication being that the film itself is the monolith.. another clue to this are the numerous segments in the film where we are presented with nothing but a black screen and always the same strange music as when the monolith is present in the film...
