pres..read your post..thanks for the information...as i gather VSA is primarily an entry based study..(ie optimal area to enter a trade based on volume /spread) ..weve talked about triggers, and TP(well TP still isnt always clear to me)..most of those areas are basically defined...but if im reading you right, SL is more or less subjective to the individual trader...stands to reason why it is rarely discussed on this subject....appreciate your time..best regards, TX

Once you get comfortable with VSA even the SL positions will become much more clear. We use VSA to determine what SM is doing for entries well we can use this same information to determine the closest and safest place to put our SL.

Hi,
Just wanted to add a trade senario into the mix for advice and or comments.

Oil seems to have some high Volume associated with it over the last 3 days, Is America repositioning itself on the world stage again in the middle east?

Anyhow Charting..
I took the trade and it ended up succesful. This was my first soley based VSA trade and I liked it. Still looking at the 5 mins charts as this is what I like and i know there is argument for longer timeframes.

Out at 100.85

AND SHOULD READ: effort to rise not fall!

pres78...thats what i wanted to know...so your using the same techniques you use to enter a trade to monitor the trade as it progresses..malcolm posted his orginal SL 3 pips below test bar....but clearly as he saw no SOW and he was comfortable with moving it up without concerns of it being hit..that makes sense to me..and i understand that SL is a personal preference...you see yesterday he posted sell into rallies up to 4200..so i took the short...then the market changed directions and when i asked a bout sl you replied i shouldve already been out!!..i wasnt clear on the SL area, and lost about 30 pips...but its the chance i took trading something i dont know alot about...today he pointed out a long trade..i decided not to take it(now i wish i had of!!) and just watch and learn, SL being my main subject because of what happened yesterday...thats all any of this as about!!! now understand there are no set SL rules in VSA.. thanks to you and sono for answering my questions..best regards, TX

confined channel till it aint

es 100% no demand day... the buyers at 1330 gone home.... this is just to lure in those retial bulls.

add in sell 1.4220 break down 15 pip stop , eu and esw moving hand in hand . i see es at 1329 / 1327 close

look what a 2x15M uh volbars can do to the daily chart (with 2.5 hours left...) from a low vol up bar (no demand ?) to a normal vol doen/doji.....

not over yet , but does changes the rading allready ! lets see how it turns out...

to much volume coming in at 4220 for me i am out ... flat ...

stop on es be ... so either 1329 or stopped out....

thanks!..i get it now..question (for anyone) ,since volume typically falls off about this time how do you use it to read?..do you compare it to yesterdays volume at the same time as a sort of reference?? do you do the same with the asian session? tx

I use VSA to enter and set my initial SL. From there I set my initial TP based on 1:1 for my first lot and then manage lot 2 from there based on ADR, previous supply and demand zones etc... I also use VSA to exit lot 2 (or sometimes lot 1 early) if I started to get oppoising signals for those that made me enter the trade.
Today's zone = Tomorrow's opportunity!
