Hi all,

I'm still confused about the setup for the 8 pairs....I typically trade the 14 pair T101 BST...after my first week of 100% profits with it, I let it sit and for a month, no signals to trade. Reading further into the BST threads, I realized that I had to reset my AI every once a week.....today the pairs finally lined up.

Trying to get a grasp on GVC's method....I downloaded all the files, but not sure how to make the spreadsheet work or what to do with it....

Also MoodyBot, can you shed some light on how you are incorporating Bryjon's methods?

I am trying to use brjons method of not setting a stop loss using the natural movement of the market and keeping an eye on the trend.

With the trend confirmation, info from the spreadsheet, sidus v3 indicator and watching the EURUSD 1h somethings starting to click.

With the EURUSD I read on a thread here describe it as a set of stairs, keep lifting a foot up onto the next tread. I tend to take the trade after a retracement down to a support level, round number, fib level etc.
Once the EURUSD starts to move in our favour the pips pile up quite quickly. Get it wrong of course and you will be in the negative. Thats where the natural movement of the market comes into play. Worth watching bryjons videos- they are superb.

Having read a thread on another forum about only choosing short or long, I chose long, has also I believe helped.

I took a trade this morning expecting a bounce off of a fib on the EURUSD with the stoch in oversold zone, it went through, I saw -160 pips on the basket at one point, it has rallied and is now -70 pips and decreasing.

I may be completely wide of the mark in all of this and have just been lucky but I took two trades earlier just watching the EURUSD, once london opened the candle starting to head north, I took one trade for 30 pips over in minutes and a second trade again as the candle kept moving up. 60 pips in about 10 mins. Im using mptm to control the basket.

Just remember that I am on demo, only been trading for a year or so but this is the first time that I feel that I have an edge thanks to GVC and Brjon.

Hi Moody,

I am trading both live and demo at the moment. I did well with my own system the first 6 weeks or so. I took my account to 100%. Then I ran into the BST trades....I ran it on demo and it hit 100% in a week! I couldn't get my BST pairs to settle after the first week so started trying taking trades via observing the pairs....then I put it on demo again after not doing well and went with another RSI system, but it sucks.

So anyway, my pairs are lined up this morning...all buys on top and all sells on bottom and OREST's 1.15 indie is showing two strong shorts on 1hr and 4hr with everything else strong long, so simply waiting for my trades to fall. I entered shorts across the board prematurely this morning after getting slaughtered with a large loss from last night.

I would honestly like to build my $100 account to something worthy...I have my journal at myfxjournals.com and if anyone is interested in helping me with this build a $100 to a Million project, all suggestions are welcome...

Moodybot,

you are getting my system down to a "T". I use Pivots on the EURUSD H1.
If there is a retracement, then consolidation, then 2 bars where the Close is Higher/Lower than the previous one, then i will take a basket entry in that direction to the next pivot. (or close to it)
I will also take an entry if the candle has closed above the 15EMA of the Sidus for 3 bars on the T101 H1chart.(Looking at the EURUSD first of course)

Idash

Sorry, but this is one of the flaws of the current EA.
A quick fix I use is to go into MetaEditor and look for the code;
if(newTime != iTime(NULL,ExtTF,0)) and change the 0 to 1, press compile, load the ea with TF 10080 and it will dump the data immediately,
Once you see the xxx_W1 in your files then you can remove the ea and set the code back to 0 and compile.
You then only have to keep the ea for the H1 dumps loaded.

The date for W1 on the 20 March is correct as the close of that candle is the open of this weeks candle.

Thanks GVC

I take it that when setting up the spreadsheet for the new week we go through the process of manually updating the weekly for each currency.

Is it necessary also to do the same with the hour or will they update automatically after the weekly setup?

Cheers

Hi GVC...

This helps alot...so let me see if my tiny brain understands what you're doing:

* All 8 pairs are traded in same direction.
* Pair direction is determined by direction of EURUSD ONLY
* If trend direction is up - and you spot consolidation near pivots and continuation in up direction, you trade 8 pairs UP
* If trend direction is down - and you spot consolidation near pivots and continuatioin in down direction, you trade 8 pairs DOWN.
* Still trying to figure out EA and Excel...will go back and re-read..

I know I'm simplyfying things down to black and white and its not always the case most of the time, but this is the basic gist of things correct?

Moodybot.

No, you only have to do the manual update the first time you set up your spreadsheet, so that it can find your mt4. From there as long as the EA is dumping to Experts > Files your spreadsheet will update.

Myfxjournals,

That is it.

How do you manage risk across all 8 pairs?

Do you use a bot for stoploss/trademanagement or do you eyeball it?

Hi myfx

As a side line, set up a demo as per GVC instructions, take a trade based on EURUSD as GVC describes in post 84 but without a stop loss.

The trade I took this morning, not the best entry went down 180 pips in the red, thats the most I have seen, its now positive. I let mptm control it from 30 pips positive.

Hey Tex,

my settings for the mptm is this:

ManageBaskettrades: true
BasketClosureSL: true
BasketSLasPercent: true
BasketSLPercentage: xx%
BasketTrailingStop: true
BasketTsAtProfit: xx.xx
BasketTrailPercent: 65%

These are my settings assuming you have the latest version of steve's mptm. I manage all trades by comment (" "). The ---Other Stuff--- section is all true.

I haven't found the ideal trailing percentage, but 60-65% initial trailing seems to work fine. Then once the basket gets up to a good amount of profit (500+ pips) I move it to 80%.

Hi Moodybot,

My spreadsheet is showing this for AUDUSD. Basically the same as yours. I know this hasn't updated because my 1 hour only contains 1 line.

Date 2011.03.13 2011.03.06

Hi Idash

On the data section of the spreadsheet eg AUDUSD are you seeing
Date
2011.03.20
2011.03.13

If so then my spreadsheet has not updated the weekly either unless this is how its meant to be.

Ihr updates fine.

I'm running windows 7 os on my laptop and when I run the EA or any script exporting price from mt4 to the experts->files folder, the csv files won't show up in that folder. However, there's a 'compatibility files' button in the same bar as the 'organize' button, and when I click that the csv files show.

I did a simple search on google and found out that starting from vista and up, microsoft lets you think that you are writing in that folder, but actually stores the files elsewhere. The reason for this is for security purposes. I spent a good hour figuring out where my exported files went last night and have finally found it. The unfortunate part is that I still can't get the EA to write the weekly lol.

IDASH

I found that I needed to close down the spreadsheet once or twice whilst setting it up, saving ithe changes of course, I to am on windows 7.

The last thing to update was the broker time, again closing down restarting sorted that one out.

I seem to remember GVC mention that he is changing to vista, caused me nothing but trouble, kept losing the homehub and had to be rebooted constantly, 7 much better.

Im just wondering whether vista sets up the spreadsheet different to 7 hence its taking a while to get it running on 7, now got it running well.

Result. Took a trade 38 mins ago, mptm closed it for 40 pip profit after a short retrace, Im going to look at mptm a little closer later to start fine tuning.

To anyone having these 'missing' file issues.

You can avoid 'losing' files due to Vista/W7 file and folder virtualization by installing your MT4 to a folder other than the usual 'Program Files'

i.e. Installing it into C:\MetaTrader during setup will avoid these issues and others.
