You let positions go against you by 590 pips? i think you made a boo boo. go back to demo for 6 more months and if ur profitable consecutively every month then go live with a small amount....

Why were you long? How much room did you plan on giving it? Did you have a plan? What was your analysis?

yes i am sure you are correct , but i am only 300 pips down since opening the account. And i am sure you would agree these are strange times.

The other point is that demo trading to real trading is the equivalant
Of playing Xbox gears of war to being a grunt in the Helmand provence in Afganistan.

what are peoples average stoploss in pips?

i normally go for 266 for a long term

just wondering what others do ? if you can share that would be a great help

Thanks , everybody having his own style & methods of seeing the charts. Me too use this counts recently , it is Tom Demark Sequential counts, you may search here in FF & also can check my interactive thread or ask me if anyway I can help.

Yes Mr J good darn good questions if I may add.

I had intended to short this all the way down to 2500 and was making pips in the process . After taking over 300 pips to 3036 I thought oh this will pull back like it always does and I will pinch a few pips . it didn’t and dom dom dom I moved my stop loss.

At 2826 I rinsed and repeated the process.

My trading plan is as follows :-

I spend hours pouring over charts deciding on entry : stop loss and take profit levels then I come on here have a look what Gatorlina is doing change all my predictions and copy him . but obviously missing the good entry points , having the wrong stop loss and exiting to early when its running.

The features of my chart determine my stoploss. For example, if I'm playing the breakout of consolidation, I place my stoploss on the opposite side of the consolidation range (plus a few pips). If I feel the stoploss is too large when compared to my anticipated profit, I do not take the trade. As Gator has said many times on this board, only take the trade when you have your back to a wall....in other words, an area of significance that is either support/resistance.

I started with a 2000 account which went up to about 2300

600 pips 0.75 per pip = 450 loss :-

I recon about 1850

ok that worked took 10pips instead of waiting for 2606 as entry got slipped to much by fing bucket shop (fxcm).
