no not yet. I probably wouldn't have taken a live short on the GU. Im probably gonna be a little more picky in my live trades.

yea good call man....what reasoning did you go through to make the decision? technical? GU is a weird pair, behaves differently its a tough pair to trade imo. I generally stay away from it unless i see a meaningful technical trend backed by strong fundamentals. You need to trade it with wide stops it can move 100s of pips in no time.

It was a purely technical trade we were floating in between pivots but mostly on the support side so it made sense that it wouldn't go down too far. I have a "quick" hitting trading system that is pretty subjective but I like it. I'm pretty good at it and I will only take my 5-6 trades a month on it. So I am super picky. On that one I was looking for 40-80 pips and was out. and it worked? the trade ultimately didn't continue in the direction I predicted so even though the trade was a success its bittersweet. (I pick up retracements going in the direction of the overall trend (6 month-1 year) trend. So Ive been picked up quick 45-90 pip shorts on the cable. I have been lost on the Eur and Chf (same pairs basically) Just a lot of larger ranging. I took the quick short of the swissy last week and picked up 70 too. so far im like 3/4 out of the month but due to lot sizing scaling in and out and limiting my downside exposure while trying to let my large lot sizes run so far i am 22% for the month.

hey guys happy st paddys....looks like euro is getting drunk....It raises alarm with me that london and german traders sold after fomc news yesterday that was supposed to be $ negative, might be on low volume though. Ive closed my long, went short again looking just below 37....euro showing weakness across the board, barrier opts were taken out at 38, oil ready for fall, same w gold. These are my current trades right now.....only eu shorts....will update later

What's up guys? Happy st patricks day.

Right now I'm in south beach for spring break so I haven't been following the thread as much bc they have no wifi out here and I can't see that charts well from my berry. Anyway, good luck trading and thanks for the helpful info.

On a minor note, has anyone been trading the kiwi usd?
Any thoughts/advice about the pair?

nice trade man....might be time to bank those though.....dow hit resistance, oil set to fall, gold as well. Look at au at major weekly tl( i have big sell orders from 9250-70). I have aj sell orders as well.....Everything is signaling risk aversion pull back....

Thanks foste. Ill sll it now and ill watch and see what happens. When u check for oil prices, do you just briefly overview them with news, opinion, etc., or do you chart it and make your own predictions and analysis?

I always chart oil, gold, dow, s&p and usdx. Everything is connected.

hey people since most of us are in Uni's does anybody know whats the route to get into a trading job specially for FX trading in investment banks? Also apart from a specialized degree a knowledge of technical analysis is it helpful? Also do these IB's scalp and what is the minimum daily pips they expect u to make and minimum daily pips they expect you to lose provided you had an off day

Knowing someone inside makes a world of difference....im trying to make contacts now. A lot of trading at big banks is done through algos and high freqs. Usually to get any type of trading position at a bank youve gotta start right at the bottom for a few years. Any other smaller firm, you need experience and a proven track record. Its not easy.

Yeah trading going to exit a GBPUSD trade in a bit got around 60 plus pis since I was right on it bouncing back up from the 1.5 line we will see what happen next. Might go up another 100 pips or so but dont want to leave it unattended when I am gone.

Hey whatsup guys. I am going live this week I HOPE. or at least getting the money to go live. Probably gonna go with fxcm, (demo'd with them for a long time) and no trades as of yet and not really feeling any direction across the pairs. We will see some this week though!

yea go with fxcm or dukascopy....dukascopy is DEFINETLY the most transparent and reputable retail broker and they changed it now so you only need 1k to open retail account. As for my break im just trying to make money this week, since i dont have to worry about my sleep schedule and class, ill trade every session. Lets see how much I can make in 1 week lol. I may go to florida for a fews days, but doubtful.
