im ok below 465x ish.. is news already priced in or not is the question.. if dollar negative and we cant get above todays high viagra wont do it.. and we make new lows.. it should take a lot more then this to turn a ship more then a daily average of pips.. im just waiting.. and i dont know..i have faith to a point of what the numbers are telling me.. and they are still bearish..

FOMC statement is the key. If they delete 'extended period' words in reference to low interest rate, then dollar bulls can again take a charge.

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Global economy will start to provide clear signs of recovery on early 2010, with U.S. data more upbeat than indicators from the Eurozone and Japan, which according to Brian Dolan, Chief Currency Strategist for FOREX.com, could induce further unwinding in short-USD positioning.

The EUR/USD will remain moving in a range from 1.4300 to 1.5000 during the first three months of next year, according to Dolan, with the risk on the downside; below 1.4300 the Euro could target 1.3800.

Gold prices are likely to flow between 1,050 and 1,150 during the first quarter of 2010, with risk of a rally to 1,250 if above 1,150/70, says Dolan.

What to expect


Overall, market is quiet, waiting for FOMC statement.

Market players had increasing hopes of a hawkish U.S. Federal Open Market Committee statement, after last weeks’ economic data from the U.S. has come in stronger than forecast, helping the dollar.

Although the Federal Reserve could acknowledge the improved growth prospects, the central bank isn't expected to tighten rates.

Either if...
Whatever it tells or do ,I will close all shorts before the event perhaps near 1.4513 /23 or any ,wait for the spike up towards 1.4597 or nearer IF again & do short , no any long.
that is my plan.

i think those refer to the ratings cut early Dec. there is nothing on S&P's site which would be more reliable i would reckon?

It under FICC- fixed income, currency anc commodity trading. They do not disclose each specifically, they tried to get David Vinair to tell them how much they made on commodities he didn't say.

By the way Goldman said 1.55 is possible, they never said it will definetely happen like some suggest here.

On the quarter, Goldman's equities commmissions fell to $930 million from $1.2 billion a year ago, but trading profits soared to $1.8 billion from $354 million. Goldman is unstoppable. In 2009 Goldman shares are up 81% and are at $172 and change.

[BOC GOV CARNEY] says that the global economic outlook has improved but 'significant fragilities" remain. The Canadian recovery will be more protracted and more reliant on domestic demand than usual. Still, the Canadian economy will likely grow faster than other G7 countries in 2010. Separately, the risks arising form household debt are relatively low, but one cannot afford to be complacent. The overall credit profile of Canadian households could shift if debt continues to grow at current rates. Lenders must actively monitor household risk and not take false comfort from mortgage insurance. Home buyers must ensure they can still handle debt when rates eventually rise. The time to address the risk of rising household debt is when risks are sill manageable. The BOC is working with the govt to monitor evolving risk and take appropriate actions if needed. 17:48 GMT - [LOOKING TO BOC'S CARNEY] BOC Gov Carney will speak shortly in Toronto and hold a press conference at 19.00GMT/2.00pm. The topic is on "Current Issues in Household Finances". Last week the Bank said in its quarterly Financial System Review that growing household debt was a concern. The Bank said vulnerability of households to a deterioration in economic conditions has increased in recent years as the household debt-to-income ratio has risen to historically high levels. There is a risk that a deterioration in the quality of consumer loans could be transmitted to the broader financial system. I thought the downgrade on December 7 was S&P placing the A- debt on negative credit watch.

Today S&P also lowered the debt one notch lower to BBB+ and kept them on negative credit watch.

Sorry if old news.

I closed out my short on the retest of the 4534 area for +10 pips.....I was in this trade on the first test of it and held it up to 4590....didn;t like the negative or red pips in my account....so failure to go thru 4534 made me close as I didn't want to hold onto it again for another ride up.....

I was correct on it re-testing 4534 and was hoping a retest of 4502/10.....it may or may not......

Fontu....you were seeing what I was seeing on the 1hr or 30min chart too!
