I was really hoping that what ever news from RBA was going to move this a bunch but that did not happen, so looks like we are still in an area of indecision at least until the London session opens

An excerpt from the RBA statement:

"...With the risk of serious economic contraction in Australia now having passed,
the Board’s view is that it is prudent to lessen gradually the degree of monetary stimulus
that was put in place when the outlook appeared to be much weaker....."

Do these fine folks know something that the rest of the globe isn't privy to ?

How has the risk of serious economic contraction, in Oz or elsewhere, passed ?

That risk is everypresent and can rear it's head when it's least convienent.
The statement may be in part based on the export and production character
of Austrailia's economy, but if we (US) sneeze again, everyone else catches a cold.

[POST RBA] Out in the markets, a classic "buy on rumour, sell on fact" reaction after RBA hikes rates by a further 25bps to 3.50% as widely expected. [AUD/USD] has tumbled over 50 pips from 0.9090 high prior to the decision, whilst bill futures are rallying and swap ylds diving over 10bps as mkt scales down hawkish rate pricing and the chances of a Dec move to a mere 50:50 chance

It is another prime example of the "Empty Babble principle" you people were joking about earlier.

The statement really says nothing, except that they would really like to not have to add more money to the money supply.

Basically, it is the same platitudes every country in the world has been spouting recently. "Everything is fine, we did a good job. Didn't we???"

Only time will tell if they pulled the fat out of fire again.

In this case, I'm not knocking the "Babble". It is understandable and even laudable that politicians and civil servants, are not able to say nothing, just because they have nothing to say. The networks and other news sources would go broke... The analysts would have "nothing" to do if they didn't have "nothing" to interpret. If every announcement was earthshaking and not pre-announced, the markets would move a thousand points on each one, other than that there would be nothing for us to trade, and the whole industry would dry up and blow away. Even this chatboard would wither, except for a few of us rehashing, "the good old days"..

Also, the Babble is reassuring to the markets in general. It maintains a sense of continuity.

all i know is good news for euro has gone flatter then i would have expected after spikes. last week usx broke a trendline higher. if 4675 are 5062 is taken out we got lots of room.. and we are spending a lot off time near the lower one.
