No, it's not. And I will tell you why: No matter how consistent you are, the market isn't. Some months offer better set ups than others. The best thing you can do is figure out your "average", and base it off of that.

My goal per month is simply to be profitable. It takes a lot of pressure off.

Agreed....
I think when people start trading they see a lot of numbers & play with spreadsheets. WOW if I just maintain 4% a month I will be rich in 10 years.....
When the consistancy is not met they start playing with more numbers & changing trade plans to try & make it work. It starts to become somewhat self-defeating.

What Chris says is spot on. When you stop worrying about maintaining your %/month & concentrate on doing the best with each trade, the numbers tend to take care of themselves. Some months will be better than others & some years will be better than others.
Just keeping your eye on the ball/trade at hand makes trading less stressfull

Hey Clockwork, regarding consistency. Is there a time if you have absolute discipline that you are sure a trade will be a success? Or are all trades a spin of the wheel, so to speak. I understand the concept of probability, but do you ever have moments when you feel its a given.

By the way, your training videos are great. Hope you don't leave us for Hollywood!

By the way, I've had a crappy time with the markets the past 3 weeks with my intraday trading. I'm glad I found this thread and would hope that the experienced vets in this thread feel free to chime in when I come up with a brilliant question. lol

If I may,
looking at a trade as a SURE thing leads to greed. If its a sure thing to be a success then risk 100%.

lets me ask the question.. how do you define a successful trade?
Is it when you make X$ or pips or 5-6%, or is it when you follow your trade plan & well defined rules for a particular trade?
All trades are just probabilities. As such I treat them all the same. when a true understanding of this is realized then %r becomes easier to trade & the % risked on each trade is easier to accept.
ie, wins & losses are just part of the plan. when we trade consistantly,when we follow our plans, this leads to success in this business in my opinion..

As far as leaving for Hollywood, don't worry I have a face for radio.....so no chance of that.

As far as a sure thing, yes - I feel that way occasionally, but it's very, very, very rare.

Of course, it's not always correct.

Not much is a sure thing. The best thing you can do is forget about the worry....

My weekly chart shows the next support around 1.08-1.09. I'd wait until price gets there, and then see if she gives any hints.

Thanks! The chart I was reading wasn't telling me anything. Needless to say I will be drawing my new charts Sunday.

I am going to spend the rest of the day, clearing my desk of all the crap and cleaning up my charts.

I will hopefully have a chart to put up in the coming days.

Does anybody know how to "clone" or "copy" an existing chart in MT4?

I'm trying to reorganize my charting so that I have a profile for each instrument that opens with 4 charts, monthly, weekly, daily, and H4. I want to draw my SR zones on one, then duplicate it instead of drawing the same lines on each TF.

Is this possible?

Go to Charts > Template > Save templates.

I hope that could help you

Either as ikki mentioned via save/load template or with my attached scripts. Remember that you can save a template with the name default. If you have such, each new chart you open will automatically use this template.

If you want to transfer the objects then execute first the script save objects on the chart which has the lines you like to be restored, then open the new chart in the profile of your choice and execute the load objects scripts. Works very well for me.
