As I understand it, those who trade the Donchian channels use this method of entry. I may be wrong, or I may be the only person that uses Donchian channels at all in which case I am right.
In the above example we can see that the channel is broken in several places by the price. In the green circle is a break with a solid bar. If the solid bar pokes through then it's a go. In the pink circle a pin has broken through and that would not usually be a good trade.
It's not usually this straightforward as you can probably guess. Funny how the good one's jump out at you, though.
I would welcome any input from someone who knows more about Donchian channels. Especially Twoblink.

Here's a trade I've been waiting for. First pointed out by Jarroo on the J16 thread. I took the break of the weekly bearish bar and the price retraced too far for me to stay in the trade.
This is a chart of the daily where the price is being compressed into a 300 pip range. This is quite tight for this pair and it is likely that a break out will occur downwards.

If this doesn't reach escape velocity when it breaks out I'll be very surprised. Also on the daily...

I'm informed the SNB wants to hold the level above 1.5. I remember the British government trying to do that sort of thing when Soros bought the country. Gordon Brown also sold all our gold reserves at one stage, when gold was at its lowest.

I couldn't resist posting this as I was watching it compress on the hourly until I noticed the strange spiky prices on the hourly, as though it doesn't know which way to go.
Zooming out and looking at another time frame often helps and this is what I got:
So this falling wedge, against the trend, is a continuation pattern and should be traded off of the top of the channel, when a break out occurs.
